Universal Pictures has revealed that screenwriter Billy Ray has been chosen to write the script for Sinatra
, a film about the life of singer-actor Frank Sinatra to be directed by Martin Scorsese.
Ray’s most recent screenwriting credits include box office smash hit The Hunger Games
. Ray has also previously worked as a writer and director on the 2003 project Shattered Glass
, for which he was nominated for the Most Promising Filmmaker award by the Chicago Film Critics Association and an Independent Spirit Award for Best Screenplay.
Acclaimed director Martin Scorsese is currently filming The Wolf of Wall Street
, a thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jonah Hill and Matthew McConaughey, and has not yet announced what his next project will be. Whether or not he will begin production on Sinatra
once filming is over remains to be seen.
Regardless, the question that remains on everybody’s lips seems to be about who will play the lead role of Sinatra in the upcoming film.

will be produced by Scott Rudin, Peter Guber and Cathy Schulman as well as Sinatra’s daughter, Tina Sinatra. The project has been made possible after Guber and Schulman managed to secure the exclusive life and music rights of the famous singer from Frank Sinatra Enterprises.
Ray’s career certainly appears to be booming after the success of The Hunger Games
. Aside from this project, he has also been recruited to write scripts for a remake of The Secret in their Eyes
as well as for an untitled project with J.J. Abrams (Alias
, Mission Impossible: III
Prior to this recent announcement that Ray will pen the script, Field of Dreams'
writer Phil Alden Robinson had been rumoured to be involved in the project.
